Assigning subject specifications and subject levels in SchoolWise is an important step in making sure that everyone in your school can use the platform effectively. It allows you to configure the platform for areas such as subject planning and assessment.
This should be reviewed not only as part of your initial setup of the platform but at the start of each academic year. It will impact the use of Curriculum Planner, Gradebook and Academic Tracking.
How to access the configuration screen for a subject
First, navigate to the Subject Manager screen to begin configuring a subject.
Platform Users: Staff Central > Subject Manager
Hub Users: Admin > Subject Manager
Displayed is a list of all the subjects that sync from your school MIS/SIS system. Next to each subject are any currently enabled cycles along with their levels. You can also see any subject specifications that are assigned for each cycle.
Using the search box or simply scrolling through the list, locate and click on the name of the subject to display the edit screen.
Configuring cycles
Cycles are enabled by the sync with your school MIS/SIS system. If you need to confirm or change this you can use the edit screen. Simply set the toggle to Green to enable a cycle or Red to disable it.
Assigning subject specifications
You can view or assign a subject specification from the edit screen. Any assigned specifications are listed along with a button to Add Subject Specification.
To assign a specification, simply select the cycle from the drop-down and click on the specification from the list. Click the Assign button to finish.
Assigning subject levels
You may offer different subject levels for subjects in your school. Levels affect the ability to plan for these in Curriculum Planner and to also record assessments in the Gradebook.
To enable or disable a level for each cycle, simply click on the level. Green activates the level for that cycle and makes it available on the platform.
Note: If you have a specification applied to a cycle in a subject, the levels available are defined by those specifications. In this case, you cannot adjust the levels. You would first have to remove the specification.
