If you would like to set target grades for your learners in SchoolWise this article will walk you through the process and show you where you can track this over time.

Firstly, let's take a look at the ways of setting target grades using the Gradebook. The two ways are;

  1. You as the teacher can set a target grade for each learner

  2. The learner can also set their target grade for each of their subjects

The target grade can be changed throughout the year or cycle/key stage. The target grade will roll over year after year unless it is changed.

Note: when you add an assessment to the Gradebook, the target grade for the learner at that time of the assessment is used. If you set a new target grade, it will be used for any new assessments. The previous target grade is stored with the previous assessments. If no target grade was set at the time of the assessment, then no target grade will be displayed.

How you can set a target grade

1. When you open the Gradebook the Dashboard is displayed screen is displayed. Click on the Config button to begin setting the target grade.

2. When the configuration screen opens, you can then set a Target Grade for each learner.

How a learner can set a target grade

1. When the learner opens the Gradebook there is a Target Grade button that they click to open the screen.

Note: depending on where the learner accesses the Gradebook, they may have a drop-down menu of their subjects. Make sure the correct subject this selected when they set the target grade.

2. The learner can then enter the Target Grade for the subject and click the Update button.

Assessment List report

When you open the List report in the Gradebook and click the View button next to any assessment, you will see the Target Grade for both the teacher and the learner.

Learner Grades report

When you open the Grades report for a learner, you can see the Target Grade for both the teacher and the learner plotted on the performance chart.
